1895 One Hundred Miles Motor Car Trial
In the autumn of 1895 the Chicago 'Times-Herald' organised this race but of the 90 entries only two were ready on the day. As a temporary measure they ran a 92 mile race between these two cars - a 3 hp Benz and a Duryea. The Benz won in a time of 9 hours and 22 minutes.
The main 100 mile trial took place later on the 28th November and the Duryea won the $2,000 prize.
