1898 Frederick Pollard and Frank Shipman set up business in Leicester

1905 Alfred Arthur Jones joined the business. See A. A. Jones, Pollard and Shipman

1911 Pollard left to start F. Pollard and Co a rival company.

The company became A. A. Jones and Shipman

1917 Advert. Drilling machines and sleeves and sockets. [1]

1919 Advert. Drilling machines and other tools. [2]

1920 Jan. Issued catalogue on a range of machine tools. [3]

1920 September. Exhibited at the Machine Tool and Engineering Exhibition at Olympia with a large drilling machine for work on burrer forgings for the railways. [4]

1946 Moved to new site at Narborough Road, South

1972 Received support for a project from government programme for the machine tool industry [5]

1998 Acquired by Renold.

2014 Producing sophisticated grinding machines. Now a subsidiary of Hardinge.
