Albert Arthur Molteno [Bill] Durrant (1898–1984), mechanical engineer and vehicle designer

1919 Joined LGOC as technical assistant to the engineer of the company, and in 1920 became experimental and research engineer.

1939 Chief Engineer, Buses and Coaches, London Passenger Transport Board

WWII Appointed Director of Tank Design in the armoured fighting vehicle division of the Ministry of Supply. His team were responsible for improving the design of the Cromwell tank and for the design of the Centurion tank.

Regarded by many as the father of the highly successful RT and Routemaster types of buses.
