1904 BONAN, A. J., M P., Harwarton, Speldhurst, Kent. Car: 6-h.p. Gardner-Serpollet. Has driven 10,000 miles since August, 1903. Was on the original Parliamentary Committee to which the Bill of 1896 was referred, and introduced the clause permitting cars to show steam or vapour for any accidental or temporary cause, otherwise many steam and other cars would have been illegal. Was a strong supporter of the motorist cause in the House of Commons during the debates on the 1903 Act, and thinks many of the restrictions in the new Act are absurd. but believes they will disappear in a few years when it is better known how wonderfully easily motors are controlled. Usually motors to the House of Commons from his country residence. [1]
