Apprentice Engineer with Calico Printers Association, Ltd.

Works Manager for several engineering firms in Scotland

WWI Officer in charge of Motor Transport Workshop in France

1934 General Manager, Sunbeam Motor Co., Ltd., Clement Talbot, Ltd. and Darracq Motor Engineering Co

Then with another part of the Rootes Group, Thrupp and Maberly Ltd. (Body Builders).

1939 General Manager, Omes, Ltd., Beverley Works, Barnes, London.
