This museum has an excellent collection of information and artefacts relating to the early iron industry in Sussex.

The displays include a large number of cast iron firebacks of local and Dutch and Flemish origin. The example shown in Photo 2 is of particular interest because it includes the earliest known illustration of an English blast furnace. It was cast at the Brede Furnace of Richard Lennard in 1636. See Photos 3 & 4 for explanatory information.
