"ARTHUR JOSEPH TAYLOR was associated with the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, Ltd., as assistant engineer for thirty years. He was articled to Mr. John Waugh, A.M.I.C.E., Bradford, consulting engineer, in 1883, and after four years' training joined the staff of the Yorkshire Boiler Insurance and Steam Users' Company, Ltd., as assistant engineer.

He held this appointment until 1896 when he went to Manchester, where he was employed by the Vulcan Co for three years. After a year's business on his own account, he began, in 1901, his long connection with the Ocean Accident and Guarantee Corporation, with whom he remained until his retirement after thirty years' service. Mr. Taylor, whose death occurred on 4th January 1950 in his eighty-fourth year, was elected an Associate Member of the Institution in 1897. He was also an Associate Member of the Institution of Civil Engineers."
