Arthur Whalesby Windsor (1877-1931)
1930/31 Obituary 
Arthur Whalesby Windsor was born in 1877 and was educated at Finsbury Technical College and East London Technical Institute.
After serving his apprenticeship in the shops of the North London Railway, he became an improver with Dick, Kerr and Co, subsequently holding positions as draughtsman with a number of well-known automobile and electric traction firms.
In 1908 be was appointed Assistant Editor of The Commercial Motor, a position which he retained until the war, when he received an appointment at the Ministry of Munitions.
At the end of the war period he became Business Manager with Leyland Motors, and this position he retained until his death, which took place on 4th June, 1931, at the age of 53.
He was elected a Member of the Institution of Automobile Engineers in 1912.
1931 Obituary 
ARTHUR WHALESBY WINDSOR, M.B.E., who was general sales manager of Leyland Motors, had been connected with the firm since 1919, when he joined them as publicity manager. He afterwards became business manager and secretary to the board committee. After a further period as joint deputy general manager he received in 1923 the appointment he held at the time of his death.
His early training was received at the North London Railway's locomotive works at Bow, and after a short period in the Kilmarnock works of Messrs. Dick, Kerr and Company he returned to London and became draughtsman in the offices of Mr. Sidney Straker, and later Mr. Samuel Riplett.
After further experience as draughtsman with various firms, including the Wolseley Tool and Motor Car Company, he became assistant technical editor of the Commercial Motor until 1916, when he received an appointment with the Ministry of Munitions, which he eventually relinquished in order to join Leyland Motors.
Mr. Windsor, who died on 4th June 1931, became a Graduate of the Institution in 1901 and was elected an Associate Member in 1903.
