1870 The mills were erected by Jones, Brothers and Co, consisting of 23 puddling furnaces, one plate mill and one sheet mill. Mainly supplied sheets for shipbuilding[1]

c.1872 Jones Brothers erected, near the mills, a large nail and washer factory

R. P. Dorman and Co acquired Jones Brothers

1899 Dorman, Long and Co acquired Ayrton Rolling Mills[2]
