Captain Charles Frank Cleaver, A.M.I.C.E., M.I.A.E., of the Four Wheel Drive Lorry Co and A. C. V. Sales.

1886 Charles Frank Cleaver was born

1903-5 At Finsbury Technical College whilst undertaking apprenticeship with various employers

1908 Gained his Diploma

1909-10 Draughtsman with the London General Omnibus Co motor department

1910-11 Draughtsman with Clayton and Co, Huddersfield.

1911 Lodging in Huddersfield[1]; of St Asaph, Commercial motor vehicle draughtsman, became an Associate Member of the Inst Civil Engineers

1912/3 2 patents with London General Omnibus Co, Walter James Iden and others on seats for use in road vehicles.

WWI Inspector of M.T.; as part of this work he was attached to the British War Mission in the U.S.A. as deputy chief inspecting officer M.T., and there learnt about the methods and organization of the leading American automobile manufacturers; he was also, for a considerable time, resident inspector at the F.W.D. Auto Co., Clintonville[2]

1916 Lieut C. F. Cleaver, of The Four Wheel Drive Auto Co., Clintonville, Wisc., U.S.A, was a member of the Inst of Automobile Engineers.

c.1919 Director of the Four Wheel Drive Lorry Co, as well as the company's chief engineer and factory manager.

1922 Married Gertrude Smith in Chester[3]

Several patents with the Four Wheel Drive Lorry Co.

1928/30 2 patents with Henry Nyberg on improvements in motor road vehicles.

1932 Patent with AEC on self-propelled rail vehicles

1938 Patent with AEC on fluid pressure or vacuum operated control devices.

1939 Automobile engineer engaged on design and development of W.D. Road vehicles and cars, lived in Eton with Gertrude Cleaver (b.1886)[4]

1946 of Stoke Poges, Member of Institution of Locomotive Engineers

1949 Married Elizabeth M Abelson in Eton[5]

1953 Patent with A. C. V. Sales on rail vehicle suspension

1954 Patent with British United Traction Ltd on change-speed gear and reversing gear for multi-engined vehicles

1964 Died in St Asaph[6]
