1872 John Hawkshaw and James Brunlees were engineers of the original Channel Tunnel Co

1881 Submarine Continental Railway Company was registered.

1886 The Submarine Continental Railway Company acquired the "rights and properties" of the Channel Tunnel Company, the name of that company being assumed in 1887. [1]

1930 The company had agreed with a group of 6 contractors to fund putting a bill through Parliament and obtaining necessary geological information, and who would then build the British half of the pilot tunnel[2]
