Sir Charles Renold (1883-1967), the son of Hans Renold

1883 Born on 29 October 1883, Altrincham, Cheshire

1934 Deputy Chr. and Man. Dir. Renold and Coventry Chain Co; Man. Dir. Brampton Brothers.

1967 Obituary. Died aged 83 years. Born 29th October 1883, the eldest son of Hans Renold. He joined the company in 1905 and a year later was made a director. In 1928 he became chairman of Renold and Coventry Chain Co (sic) but left the position for Arthur Brampton to succeed him after the take-over of Coventry Chain Co. He returned as chairman from 1943-51.[1]

Sir Charles Renold, JP, former Managing Director of Renold Chains Ltd, died on the 7th September.

Sir Charles had a long association with the University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology and unsparingly served the University as Chairman of the Building Committee from 1946 to 1962 making an enormous contribution to its development and rehousing.

His death will be a sad loss to his many friends and colleagues in the North.
