Cocksedge and Co

of Greyfriars Road and Rapier Street, Ipswich
1879 J. S. Cocksedge left the firm of Woods, Cocksedge and Co and set up the company.
1886 Moved to new premises.
J. W. A. Cocksedge, James' son, who had been working for two engineering companies in London, joined the company.
1887 J. S. Cocksedge died.
1900 new premises in Rapier Street.
1925 The company took limited status.
The company was the maker of the Gerald Gray Patent Self-Slewing Crane and this utilised two small steam engines.
1961 Constructional and general engineers and iron founders; specialists in manufacture of sugar machinery. 600 employees.
