Cordes (Dos Works) Ltd.of Newport, Mon.

1903 The company was registered on 25 August, and took over the business of J. J. Cordes and Co, manufacturers of nails etc. [1]

The products were sheet steel, bars, rails, steel arches etc. as well as wire for use in springs and nails.

WWI the Dos works was one of the companies forming part of the Eastern Group of firms organised under the Ministry of Munitions making a significant contribution to the war effort. The products were largely the same as pre-war.

1959 Liquidators appointed[2]

1961 The factory closed.

Nothing upstanding remains of the former works.
