David Kiel Tullis (c1866-1942)
1943 Obituary 
DAVID KIEL TULLIS, whose death occurred on 2nd May 1942, in his seventy-sixth year, was the founder, and for more than fifty years the managing director, of the firm of Messrs. D. and J. Tullis, Ltd., laundry engineers, of Glasgow. During this long period he was largely instrumental in developing the modem power laundry industry by his inventions of labour-saving machinery and a systematized method of salesmanship of the firm's products.
He served his apprenticeship with Messrs. Duncan Stewart and Company, Glasgow, and received his technical education in Germany, which he supplemented by a further two years' course of study in America. Mr. Tullis was a Member of the Institution for over forty years, having been elected in 1901.
