1901 'The great establishment near Berlin known as the German Niles Tool Company has recently gone into full operation for building machine tools of the largest kind. German banks and machinery manufacturers are behind the concern, and the Niles Tool Works of Hamilton, Ohio, supplies the drawings and designs.' 
The business underwent various changes of ownership. After the second world war Niles-Werke, being in East Germany, became part of the VVB WMW (Association of Nationally Owned Machine Tools and Tools.
