1814 Founded by William Finch from Speyton who learned his trade at the Tavistock Iron Works. The company produced edge tools using water-powered machinery
1862 On the death of William, the business was taken over by George Finch, one of his five sons
On the death of George, his wife Rebecca ran the business for six years until their three sons James, Thomas and Albany took over
Ralph Finch ran the business until 1960
