1871 Living at Clarendon Road, Edgbaston: George Burt (age 52 born Birmingham), Lamp Manufacturer employing 35 men, 27 youths and apprentices, also partner of Burt Brothers employing 47 men and 9 youths. With his wife Louisa C. Burt and three daughters and two sons.[3]

1881 Living at 7 Portland? Road, Edgbaston: George Burt (age 62 born Birmingham), Manufacturer 75 hands. With his wife, 2 daughters and three sons.[4]
