1900 'George Elston and William John Watson, locomotive owners, of Welby, were summoned for an infringement of Locomotive Act, l898, at Londonthorpe and Welby, on March 21st. The offence was that they ran a traction engine from Londonhorpe to Welby without having the proper number men in charge. Fined £1. and costs.'
