Founded in 1893 as Gorton and Graham Machine Co. Graham was Fred Graham. Gorton was George Gorton II, the son of George Gorton I (1825-1888, married Ann Buffham, 1832-1862. Emigrated to USA, 1850. After Ann died, he married her sister, Elizabeth Buffham, 1838-1914. All born in Rochdale).
1898 Took out a licensing agreement to make Taylor, Taylor and Hobson (Leicester) engraving machines.
1900 Paris Industrial Exposition: Bronze medal for disc grinding equipment.
1935 Engraved the Lord's prayer on the point of a pin, 0.005" diameter.
