1823 July 27th. Born the son of Job Hancock and his wife Mary Cope

1845 Married Harriet Kettle at Sandbach

1850 George Hancock, Cooper, High Street [1]

1851 George is living at High Street, Sandbach age 28 (born at Wybunbury) and a Cooper employing 3 men and an apprentice, He is with his wife Harriet and children Peter, Elizabeth and Mary. Plus Peter Kettle (age 45), a cabinet maker, his father-in-law. [2]

1861 His wife Harriet and family (Peter, Harriet, Thomas and Robert) are living at the foundry, Sandbach and Harriet is described as an Implement Maker's wife. George is not shown at this address so presumably was away from home when the census was taken. [3]

1866 Edwin Foden became a partner in George Hancock's firm Plant and Hancock when Thomas Plant retired and it was re-named Hancock and Foden

1870 George Hancock retired from the firm, though remaining as adviser.

1871 George living at Foundry Street, Bradwell age 48 (born at Nantwich, Cheshire), an agricultural implement maker with his wife Harriet (age 46) and children Peter (age 23) the manager of the gas works, Mary (age 20) a confectioner, Harriet (age 18) a scholar, Thomas (age 16) a scholar and Robert (age 14) a scholar. He is neighbour to his business partner Edwin Foden [4]

1876 Foden took sole control and renamed the firm Edwin Foden & Sons

1881 George living at 43 Musk Lane, Sedgley, Staffs, aged 58 (born at Wybunbury), a gas engineer employing 2 men, with his wife Harriet aged 56 and grand-daughter Harriet aged 6. [5]

1891 George living at Gas Street, Sedgley, Staffs, aged 68 (born at Wybunbury), Manager of Gas Works, with his wife Harriet and grand-daughter Harriet Bayley (aged 17). [6]

1901 Harriet is aged 78 and a widow and living with her daughter Elizabeth and son-in-law John Whalley and their family. [7]
