c1840 Born the son of Joseph Watson, hide dealer of Leeds.

1861 Living at Willow Terrace Road, Leeds (age 21 born Horsforth), a Hide and Skin Broker. With his parents Joseph (age 47 born Kirkstall), a Hide and Skin Broker employing 15 men, and Hannah (age 45 born Kirkstall). Also their son Charles (age 23 born Kirkstall), a Hide and Skin Broker. Three servants and a visitor. [1]

1871 Living at Moorville House, Moor Road, Headingley cum Burley (age 31 born Horsforth), a Hide Broker. With his wife Mary A. (age 30 born Ripon) and their children Clara (age 2) and Florence (age 1). Two servants. [2]

1881 Living at Westfield, Moor Road, Headingley cum Burley (age 41 born Horsforth), a Soap Manufacturer. With his wife Mary A. (age 40 born Ripon) and their children Clara (age 12), Florence (age 11), Gertrude (age 9) and Joseph (age 8 born Headingley). One servant. [3]
