c.1860 David Chadwick formed a small company Chadwick and Frost to work Herbert Frost's water meter patents of 1855 and 1857.

1862 Patent sealed January 1862: H. Frost, Manchester, manager of the Manchester Water Meter Company — improvements in apparatus for measuring fluids. Dated October 22, 1861 [1]
