1903 Obituary [1]

HUGH STEVEN died at Kelvinside, Glasgow, in February 1903, at the age of seventy-three years.

He was a member of the firm of MacDowall, Steven & Company, Limited, which was founded by his uncle, the late Mr. John MacDowall. He joined his uncle in the business as a boy, and for fifty years was identified with the firm along with his two brothers, and devoted himself with much energy to the development of this well-known business, taking little active part in public affairs.

He was a candidate for membership of the Iron and Steel Institute.
