Early 1880s: joined Johnson and Phillips

Invented the Brockie-Pell Arc Lamp and other arc lamps

1894 of Charlton; head of the lighting department of Johnson and Phillips; became a member of the Inst of Electrical Engineers (sponsored by Gisbert Kapp and Bennett Pell).
