1839 Born at Leeds the son of William Archdale (1797-1882), a Coal Miner, and his wife Rachel Atkinson (1801-1861)

1891 Living at 1 Church Road, Harborne, Birmingham: James Archdale (age 51 born Leeds), Machine Tool Master and Employer. With his wife Annie Archdale (age 26 born Newcastle-upon-Tyne). Two servants.[1]

1911 Living at The Yews, Court Oak Road, Harborne, Birmingham: James Archdale (age 61 born Leeds), Machine Tool Maker and Employer. With his wife Annie Archdale (age 46 born Newcastle) and their son Fred Archdale (age 18 born Harborne). Three servants.[2]
