1917 'Mr. John Rock Lemon, for many years partner of the firm Garnish and Lemon, engineers, of Pilton, Barnstaple, has passed away at Westminster Villas, Ilfracombe, at the age of 70. In partnership with the late Mr. P. Garnish, he acquired the engineering business of the late Mr. J. Furze, at Pilton, Barnstaple, and carried it on successfully until Michaelmas 1913. when it was disposed of to the present proprietor. He leaves a widow and two daughters. He was an ardent Liberal and took a keen interest: in Friendly Society work, having been a member of the Foresters.'
