British shuttle maker who co-owned Thomas Comstive Ltd. of Burnley
- 1821 Born in Church, Lancashire[1], son of William and Alice Cumstive.
- 1841 Lived at Old Mill, Habergham Eaves, Lancashire, with his parents, two brothers and a sister. Occupation: Block Cutter.[2]
- 1849 Shuttle-making company Thomas Comstive founded by his brother Thomas.[3]
- 1860 NOTICE is hereby given, that the Partnership heretofore subsisting between us the undersigned, Thomas Comstive, William Comstive, and Joseph Comstive, as Manufacturers of Shuttles and Picking Sticks in Marsden's Foundry, Burnley, in the county of Lancaster, under the style of Thomas Comstive and Bros., has this day been dissolved by mutual consent; and that all debts due to and owing by the late co-partnership will be received and paid by the said Thomas Comstive.— As witness our hands this 15th day of November, 1860.[4]
