Justin Vulliamy

From Graces Guide
Barometer at Nostell Priory

(François) Justin Vulliamy (1712–1797), was born in Switzerland, and moved to London to study in the 1730s. He established a partnership with Benjamin Gray (1676–1764), who was in 1742 appointed watchmaker in ordinary to George II; married Gray's daughter Mary, and had 4 children with her.[1].

Nostell Priory has on display a fine barometer, dated to George III, with a tulipwood case made by Thomas Chippendale, with the movement made by Justin Vulliamy.[2] . See photo.
