Laurence Bell (1873- )

1922 M.I.A.E., Man. Dir., Peebles Motor Co., Ltd.; b. 1873; s. of the late Alexander Bell. Ed. Lasswade High Grade Board Sch., Midlothian. Training: Heriot Watt Coll., Edinburgh. Trained to mech. eng. at James Milne and Sons, Ltd., Engrs., Edinburgh; Manager of the Oil Gas Enrichment Co. of Peebles, 1893-5; Gas Engr. to the Innerleithen and Walkerburn Gas Light Co. (Peeblesshire), 1895-1903; the first to take X-ray photos on the Borders a few months after the discovery of the rays; built first motor car in Scotland outside Glasgow district, 1897-8.
