1923 Leonard Fairclough Construction built the Purfleet bypass, one of the first in the UK[2]

1959 Company made public.

1961 Civil engineers and building contractors. Builders of the Thelwall Viaduct. Owners of the largest road mobile crane in United Kingdom. Specialists in the designing of all types of reinforced concrete and pre-stressed concrete structures. 1,500 employees.

1982 The William Press and Son and Fairclough construction groups merged to form AMEC plc
