1947 'MR. LESLIE WALTON, chairman of Vauxhall Motors, Ltd., has retired after 40 years' service on the board. He joined the company as joint managing director in 1907 when it was , formed to take over the motor activities of the Vauxhall and West Hydraulic Engineering Co., Ltd., of Luton. In 1914, he also became chairman, and when the company joined the General Motors Corporation in 1925 he continued in both capacities. Since 1930, he has been chairman.'[2]
