London Transport Executive

1948 The London Passenger Transport Board was replaced by the London Transport Executive under the Transport Act 1947. It covered all of the the London Transport buses, trams, coaches and trains.
1963 The London Transport Executive was abolished and an autonomous London Transport Board created instead.
1970 The London Transport Board was replaced by a London Transport Executive, to be responsible, under the overall policy control of the Greater London Council, for the day to day operation of the Central (red) buses and the Underground. Thus instead of being a nationalised industry it effectively became a subsidiary of the GLC.
