1920 Died. 'Sir Julian Orde’s Son Killed. Flight-Lieut. Michael Julian Orde has been killed in an aeroplane accident on Salisbury Plain. He was 32, and the son of Sir Julian Orde. He did a lot of flying during the war, which he was shot down and taken prisoner. Recently he joined the flying school at Netheravon for a “refresher” course on a new type machine. He was taken for 35 minutes to get used to its peculiarities, and afterwards took charge himself, with the instructor sitting behind. The machine crashed from a low altitude, and Orde’s skull was fractured. The instructor escaped with a bad shaking.'[2]
