Note: Date of firm's establishment at the Globe Foundry not known, but the foundry had been advertised for sale by its proprietor, Mr Daly, in September 1838 [1]
1839 The Globe Ironworks was established by John Musgrave
Partnership between John Musgrave, Joseph Musgrave and John Heaton.
1848 'Bolton, Blackburn, Clitheroe, and West Yorkshire Railway ..... Trinity Street, Bolton, where the line forms a junction with the Manchester and Bolton line, and proceeding in a north-easterly direction, passed under Bradshawgate, "the breach being healed" by an iron girder bridge of 400 tons weight, made by Messrs. Musgrave, Son, and Heaton, of Little Bolton, each girder having been tested to resist ten tons. There are 56 of these girders, all of which have been proved, and are braced with wrought iron bolts to secure their safety and strength. On the 1st instant, a waggon, with a locomotive engine on it weighing 23 tons, passed over it, and the deflection was less than the eighth of an inch upon the whole length.'[2]
