1909 Company incorporated as the UK sales organisation for fabricated products of the Canadian parent company, Northern Aluminium of Montreal[1]

1926 Acquired an interest in a Birmingham foundry.

1929 The Northern Aluminium Co started to manufacture the Rolled On (R.O.) Closure in the UK

1930 Built a factory at Banbury for the manufacture of aluminium circles and sheets

By 1935 its West Bromwich works turned out 100 million closures per year

1936 Northern Aluminium sold its Metal Seals Department to Metal Closures Ltd[2]

1937 Aluminium and aluminium alloys. "Noral" Paste for Paint.[3]

WWII with government support built a fabrication works at Rogerstone, Mons., which was purchased by the company in 1946

1950 Installed large continuous strip-rolling mill[4]

1955 Northern Aluminium Co fabricated 3,200 "Kingstrand" aluminium houses for Columbia. Actual manufacture and packing by A. P. Metalcraft.[5]

1958 Raised capital by issue of new shares; the parent company, Aluminium Ltd, took up half of the shares[6]

1960 Name changed to Alcan Industries (or Alindustries), to emphasise its connections with its parent company, Aluminium Ltd of Canada[7]. It was one of the subsidiaries of Alcan (U.K.)

1960 Installed new wide hot rolling mill at Rogerstone[8]
