1937 New Insulation Co incorporated
Manufacturer of the Permali range of materials derived from different wood veneers, Bakelite-impregnated before being pressed and polymerised into blocks of varying thicknesses. The combination of mechanical strength, lightness and anti-corrosive properties led to its use in aircraft blades.
1951 Name changed to Permali Ltd
1954 Public company
1954 Acquired Hordern-Richmond[1].
1955 Acquired from Jablo Plastics Industries that part of their business concerned with densified wood[2]. A new subsidiary was formed combined with part of Hordern-Richmond, located at Croydon, called Hydulignum-Jabroc (Tools) Ltd. Also acquired the Jabroc material from Jablo Plastics.
1956 Introduced new line - glass laminates[3].
1958 Completion of centralisation of UK manufacturing at Gloucester except for the aircraft propeller business at Haddenham[4]
192 Products included Permali laminates, Permacast epoxide resin insulation, Dialam EHT bushings, Permaglass reinforced glass, Permaflon PTFE components, Hydulignum and Jabroc wood laminates for engineering[5]
1975 Acquired by BTR Industries, which then operated as BTR Permali.
