Manufacturer and supplier of concrete in ready mixed form, of Feltham

1930 Ready Mixed Concrete company incorporated

1931 Started trading from a plant in Bedfont, Middlesex[1]

1952 A second plant, in Poplar, was brought into operation. All of the shares in the company were acquired by Ready Mixed Concrete (of Australia)

1955 Opened first plant outside the UK in Dusseldorf, Germany

Rapid expansion so that by 1962 the company owned or had access to more than 60 plants in the UK. Developed specialised equipment including hydraulic drives for the mixer trucks. Introduced the owner-driver system for delivery operations.

1962 Name changed to Ready Mixed Concrete (UK) Ltd

1962 Public offer of shares

1963 All of the shares held by Ready Mixed Concrete (of Australia) were placed in the market; the Australian group then had no interest in Ready Mixed Concrete (UK) Ltd[2]

1964 Had 120 plants in UK[3]

1969 The initials RMC appeared in a corporate advert[4]

By 1982 the name had become RMC Group[5]
