1977 Raine Engineering Industries made its final bid for Sheffield Brick Group[1] but this seems to have been unsuccessful.

1988 The private housebuilding and property company Miller Wheeldon carried out a reverse take-over of the company[2] which led to new management and a change in Raine's strategy.

1988 Acquired Ford and Weston shop fitter and construction group

1988 Acquired Lycett and Platt, shop fitter and 2 small housebuilders

1988 Acquired Aberdeen Construction, aggregates group

1988 Swapped Aberdeen Construction with Evered Holdings's house building arm Fletcher Holdings

1988 Failed in its bid for Ruberoid Co

1997 Acquired by Alfred McAlpine[3]
