1761 born in Ecclesfield, Yorkshire, son of Jonathan and Mary Hattersley.

1784 married Charlotte Longdon in Sheffield.

Served an apprenticeship at Kirkstall Forge

1789 Set up business in Keighley to produce nuts and bolts - Hattersley

1789 Birth of son George, followed by 2 daughters.

Later he saw opportunities in connection with the developments in the textile industry and set up another business in Keighley, which later became George Hattersley and Sons

1829 died in Keighley and was buried in Bradford, Yorkshire.
