Siddeley and Co
of Upper William Street, Liverpool
1886 Siddeley and Co was formed to purchase the business, property, and liabilities of Messrs. Joshua and John Siddeley, of Upper William-street, Liverpool. Powers were taken to acquire and work English letters patent, granted for improvements in apparatus or machinery for refrigerating or cooling purposes.
1887 'LIVERPOOL BANKRUPTCY COURT.....The debtors were Joshua and John Siddeley, brothers, trading under the style of Siddeley and Co., at Upper William-street, Liverpool, and also at Newlyn and Gulvat, near Penzance, as brassfounders and engineers, and also as manufacturers of ice and ice-making machines. The statement of affairs showed gross liabilities of £31,806....'
The 1890 O.S. map shows an Engineering Works on the south side of Upper William Street, bounded on the right by a railway viaduct, and to the south and west by houses (on Whitley Street and Great Howard Street)
