Manufacture of paints, varnishes and similar coatings
formerly E. and F. Richardson and possibly also John S. Craig and Co
1980s Sigma Coatings owned by Petrofina, later becoming TotalFina.[1]
1998 Sold the architectural paints business in GB to the Philip Johnstone Group, hitherto a partner in the production joint venture Buckingham Coatings. The transaction covers three parts: the architectural paints division of Sigma Coatings in Great Britain, the holding in the BCL JV, and land and buildings of Sigma's distribution centre in Buckingham. The workforce is transferring wholly to Philip Johnstone. Sigma Coatings Limited (UK) remains the owner of the 'Low Flash' plant in Buckingham which is used for the production of marine paints, anti-corrosion coatings and repair paints. The plant in Deeside, currently used to produce coil coatings, remained under Sigma management.[2]
