Stadlec Chain Bridge
Stadlec Bridge (Stádlecký most)
Built 1847-8. Designed by B. Schnircha and Gassner and constructed by Vojtěch Lanna to cross the River Vltava in Podolsko. Before the Orlík Lake was established, the bridge was dismantled and relocated to the Lužnice. 2,000 granite blocks with a total weight of 1000 tons and 1,100 iron parts which weighed 100 tons were gradually relocated from the valley of the Vltava to the valley of the Lužnice.[1]
Dismantled to allow the level of Orlik Dam to be increased, and relocated to cross the Lužnice River near the village of Stádlec (about 2 km from Oparany on the road from Tábor to Písek). Reconstructed with great difficulty. [2]
