1938 Tiltman Langley Laboratories was formed by A. Hessell Tiltman and Marcus Langley

1950 Developed an infinitely variable gear for aircraft use based on the design of J J Gerritsen, chief engineer of the company[1]

1955 Developed a low temperature method of soldering aluminium, under a Ministry of Supply contract[2]

1956 Mr M Langley resigned as managing director due to ill health; Mr A H Tiltman was appointed president[3]

1957 M Langley was appointed technical director; Major H H Sykes was managing director, L A Wingfield was chairman [4]

1970 Contract to supply automatic fare collection equipment to Port Authority of New York[5]

1978 Contract to supply equipment for Hong Kong underground[6]

1978 Acquired by Cubic Corporation of San Diego; expansion at Redhill[7]
