1970 Unochrome International and Bank Bridges Securities floated 70 percent of the company[1]

1970 Acquired J. Fisher and Co (Cleveleys), maker of precision tools for plastic and also deep-hole boring[2]

1973 Acquired a private company involved in motor dealing and distribution, and plant hire[3]

1980 Acquired Cosworth Engineering[4]

1985 Sold Fisher (Cleveleys), precision tool manufacturer to Parkfield Group.

By this time UEI had an international reputation as a pioneer in the field of advanced technology. It had 4 areas of business: sound and vision, text and graphics, scientific, and advanced engineering.

1989 Acquired by Carlton Communications for its expertise in television and video technology.
