Early 1890s, W. Radford was works manager of the Rudge factory in Coventry where he had a deserved reputation for efficiency.

1896 October. Swift Cycle Co was floated; W. Radford was Works Manager[1]

1907 William Radford, the Works Engineer, designed engines for Swift Motor Co; these were made in their own factory.
