William Treble Thorne (1889-1936)
1936/37 Obituary [1]
William Treble Thorne was born in 1889 and served his apprenticeship with the Nevill Engineering Co, Worcester, London and Manchester.
He was then appointed to manage the Repair Department of the Star Garage, Worcester, and in 1910 started in business on his own account in that city as motor car agent and repairer. This business he developed progressively and it was eventually formed into a Limited Liability Company, of which he became Managing Director.
He met his death tragically in 1936, as a result of one of the competing cars leaving the track and charging the spectators at the Ulster Grand Prix.
He was elected an Associate Member in 1927.
