President: Major-General the Rt. Hon. the Earl of Athlone, G.C.B., G.C.M.G., G.C.V.O., D.S.O.

The Club was formed to encourage the development of aviation in South Africa, to co-ordinate the activities of the flying clubs and to control all aviation competitions, sporting events and trials in South Africa. Members of all flying clubs are members of the Aero Club of South Africa.
