Thomas Brassey (1836 - 1918) MP for Hastings, of Battle, Sussex[1]; particular interest in naval affairs
1836 Born, eldest of the three sons of railway contractor Thomas Brassey.
Trained for the Bar; then moved into politics where he contributed on various subjects including reform of the Navy.
1860 Married Anna Allnutt; they had one son, Thomas Allnutt Brassey, who later became second Earl Brassey, and four daughters.
1866 Associate of the Institution of Civil Engineers, of 4 Great George St, Westminster.

1886 Raised to the peerage as Baron Brassey of Bulkeley.
