Went out to France 1914; engaged on construction of railways and field work; invalided home and then seconded to Ministry of Munitions (Explosives Department); engaged on work in connection with the design of the large factories at Gretna, Chester and Avonmouth, and as Resident Engineer design and erection of Hamble Marine Acceptance Depot, near Southampton. Complimented for a proposal for the defence of an area against Zeppelins.
